The process
of source code to UML and back again is too
troublesome to attempt. For this reason Agile
software projects make no attempt at UML
code generation.
When joining a new project
it is helpful to be able to quickly convert sections
of the source code to UML
diagrams in order to get a clearer picture
of the architecture of the project. Most programmers
prefer to create a new set of diagrams by converting
the code to UML and then creating fresh diagrams
against that Java
model. When in the past there has been a diagram
from which UML
code generation has been performed then
it is unlikely that those diagrams will still
be relevant if the code has been worked on manually
in the interim.
